BDO South Africa Incorporated is seeking a proactive, energetic, and detail-oriented graduate to join the Audit Support Centre based at their Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) office as an Audit Support Intern. This entry-level opportunity is ideally suited for recent graduates specializing in Accounting, Finance, or Internal Audit who are looking to establish a successful professional career within a top-tier audit and advisory firm. The successful candidate will work closely with audit engagement teams, facilitating essential administrative, operational, and technical support across various stages of the audit lifecycle.
As an Audit Support Intern, you will play a vital role in ensuring audit compliance, client portal management, budget uploads, engagement setups, and independence verification. Prior exposure to financial administration or internal audit will be considered a distinct advantage, though comprehensive internal training and mentorship will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portal Setup: Create and maintain BDO Client Portals in a timely manner, ensuring proper user access, correct client personnel inclusions, and accurate task allocations.
Budget & System Management: Upload engagement team budgets onto Maconomy Cloud, systematically following up with audit managers and partners to secure prompt approvals.
Code Generation: Generate Maconomy Engagement Codes timeously and communicate engagement updates directly to audit managers.
CRM & Compliance Tracking: Facilitate client acceptance and continuance workflows by tracking completed CRM requirements and maintaining compliance records.
System Descriptions: Request, review, and verify client system descriptions to ensure all current-year operational changes are accurately documented.
Bank Confirmations: Initiate and track bank confirmation requests by collating accurate bank account lists from engagement teams.
Audit Tool Administration: Execute APT (Audit Process Tool) roll-forwards adhering strictly to BDO audit methodologies and maintain proper folder permissions.
Independence Verifications: Monitor independence email confirmations and declare independence working papers on the RER screen in APT, promptly escalating any potential issues to the Project Supervisor.
Document Uploading & Capturing: Upload verified engagement documents, complete data capturing within strict deadlines, and clear review queries promptly.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support, including meeting coordination and accurate minute taking as requested.
